Service Nature
Experimental Status
Project Automod is an experimental moderation bot for Discord. The service is provided "as-is" without guarantees of uptime, data integrity, feature stability, or fitness for any particular purpose.
What this means:
- Features may change without notice
- Data structures may be refactored
- Bot may experience downtime
- Bugs and unexpected behavior may occur
- No service level agreement (SLA) is provided
No Warranties
Project Automod provides no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Accuracy of moderation decisions
- Availability or uptime
Users accept all risks associated with using this service.
Eligibility & Platform Dependency
Discord Platform Requirement
Project Automod operates exclusively on Discord's platform and is subject to Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Users must:
- Have a valid Discord account
- Comply with Discord's Terms of Service
- Comply with Discord's Community Guidelines
- Be of minimum age required by Discord (13+ or 16+ depending on region)
Platform Changes
If Discord modifies its API, policies, or platform in ways that affect Project Automod's functionality, the service may change or terminate without liability.
Guild Ownership
Guild administrators using Project Automod must:
- Have legitimate authority over the Discord guild
- Have permission to add bots to the guild
- Be responsible for configuration choices made
Role Hierarchy Limitations
Discord Permission System
Project Automod operates within Discord's role hierarchy. The bot cannot:
- Moderate users with roles higher than the bot's highest role
- Bypass Discord's permission system
- Override guild owner permissions
- Act on users with Administrator permission if bot lacks equivalent access
Configuration Responsibility
Guild administrators are responsible for:
- Positioning the bot's role appropriately in the guild hierarchy
- Granting necessary permissions to the bot
- Understanding that misconfigurations may prevent moderation actions
Project Automod is not liable for failed moderation actions due to role hierarchy or permission issues.
AI Limitations
EatherAI Experimental Status
The EatherAI subsystem is experimental and operates with the following limitations:
Rate Limits:
- 20 requests per user per hour (standard users)
- Superusers are exempt from rate limits
- Daily token budget: 1,000,000 tokens globally
- When budget is exceeded, AI becomes temporarily unavailable
Accuracy:
- AI responses may contain errors, hallucinations, or outdated information
- AI does not have real-time access to external information
- AI operates on knowledge base current as of training data cutoff
- AI may misunderstand questions or provide irrelevant answers
Privacy:
- All AI interactions are logged (see Privacy Policy)
- Prompts and responses are stored indefinitely
- AI memory is ephemeral and cleared after inactivity
Non-Autonomy:
- AI does not autonomously issue bans, kicks, warnings, or moderation actions
- AI does not make decisions on behalf of users
- AI is assistive only; users must take manual actions
Refusals:
- AI refuses political debate
- AI refuses user profiling
- AI refuses requests outside its documented capabilities
- AI refuses requests to bypass safety guardrails
Users acknowledge:
- AI responses are suggestions, not authoritative rulings
- Users are responsible for verifying AI-provided information
- Project Automod is not liable for decisions made based on AI responses
Acceptable Use
Prohibited Uses
Users may not:
- Use Project Automod to violate Discord's Terms of Service
- Use Project Automod to harass, abuse, or harm others
- Attempt to bypass rate limits or abuse AI systems
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
- Use Project Automod to distribute illegal content
- Use Project Automod as part of coordinated raids or attacks
- Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities for malicious purposes
- Impersonate Project Automod staff or developers
Moderation Standards
Guild administrators using Project Automod must:
- Use moderation features in good faith
- Not use automod to silence legitimate criticism
- Not use global ban system frivolously or maliciously
- Provide accurate evidence when submitting global ban incidents
- Not falsely accuse users without reasonable basis
Reporting
Users who encounter:
- Illegal content
- Terms of Service violations
- Abuse of Project Automod systems
- Security vulnerabilities
Should report via Project Automod support server or direct message to developers.
Abuse & Blacklisting
Detection
Project Automod tracks:
- Cross-guild offense patterns
- Global ban incidents
- Trust scores
- Abuse of bot features
Blacklisting
Users or guilds may be blacklisted from using Project Automod if they:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Abuse moderation features
- Spam bot commands
- Attempt to exploit vulnerabilities
- Engage in coordinated harassment
- Distribute illegal content
Blacklist Effects
Blacklisted users:
- Cannot interact with Project Automod
- Cannot use commands
- Cannot access premium features
- Cannot appeal global bans
Blacklisted guilds:
- Bot will leave the guild
- Cannot re-invite the bot
- All guild data is soft-deleted
Appeals
Blacklist appeals may be submitted via support server. Appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. No appeals timeline is guaranteed.
Service Restriction Rights
Modification Rights
Project Automod reserves the right to:
- Modify features at any time
- Add or remove commands
- Change configuration schemas
- Refactor database structures
- Change AI behavior or capabilities
- Update rate limits or usage quotas
Termination Rights
Project Automod reserves the right to:
- Terminate service to specific guilds without notice
- Terminate service to specific users without notice
- Discontinue the entire service without notice
- Remove access to premium features
- Revoke premium cards
No Refund Obligation
Premium cards are provided on a goodwill basis. Project Automod has no obligation to:
- Honor premium card durations if service is terminated
- Provide refunds or compensation
- Maintain premium features indefinitely
- Restore premium status if revoked for Terms of Service violations
Premium Disclaimer
Visual Variants Only
All premium card tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, Opal, Eather) provide the same premium features. Differences are:
- Visual appearance of card
- Duration of premium access
- Cosmetic flavor text
No functional hierarchy exists between premium tiers beyond duration.
Premium Features
Premium features include (but are not limited to):
- Priority support
- Advanced moderation tools
- AI access enhancements
- Custom guild features
- Extended vault storage
- Analytics and insights
Features may change without notice to premium users.
Card Activation
Premium cards:
- Must be activated by authorized users
- Activate premium status for target guild
- Have expiration dates
- May be revoked for Terms of Service violations
- Are non-transferable
- Are not refundable
Grace Periods
Premium card grace periods:
- Extend access after nominal expiration
- Are discretionary and not guaranteed
- May be removed without notice
- Do not constitute a refund obligation
Limitation of Liability
No Liability for Damages
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Project Automod and its operators are not liable for:
Direct Damages:
- Data loss
- Service interruption
- Failed moderation actions
- Incorrect AI responses
- False positives in automod detection
- False negatives in automod detection
Indirect Damages:
- Loss of guild members
- Reputation damage
- Lost opportunities
- Psychological harm
- Economic losses
Third-Party Actions:
- Actions taken by Discord
- Actions taken by guild members
- Actions taken by other bots
- Interactions with external services
Technical Failures:
- Database corruption
- Server crashes
- API rate limits
- Network outages
- Software bugs
Indemnification
Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Project Automod and its operators from:
- Claims arising from user's use of the service
- Claims arising from user's violation of these Terms
- Claims arising from user's violation of Discord's Terms
- Claims arising from moderation actions taken by user
- Claims arising from content posted by user or guild members
Maximum Liability
In no event shall Project Automod's total liability exceed the amount paid by the user for premium services (if any) in the 30 days preceding the claim. Since most services are provided free of charge, this often results in zero liability.
Data Processing
User Responsibility
By using Project Automod, users acknowledge:
- They have authority to provide data to the bot
- They understand data is logged and stored (see Privacy Policy)
- They are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws in their jurisdiction
- Project Automod makes no claims of GDPR, CCPA, or other regulatory compliance
No Legal Advice
These Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are not legal advice. Users should consult legal professionals regarding data protection obligations in their jurisdiction.
Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution
Users experiencing issues should first:
- Contact support via Project Automod support server
- Provide clear description of issue
- Allow reasonable time for response
No Arbitration Clause
These Terms do not include mandatory arbitration. Users retain the right to pursue legal remedies.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Project Automod's primary operator resides. No specific jurisdiction is claimed in this document.
Global Ban System
Purpose
The Global Ban System is designed to protect participating guilds from:
- Illegal content distributors
- Serial harassers
- Coordinated raiders
- Mass scammers
- Malicious actors
- Token grabbers
- Guild nukers
Reporting Process
Users may submit global ban incidents via /globalban report command. Reports must include:
- Target user or guild ID
- Category of violation
- Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc.)
- Summary of incident
Review Process
Submitted incidents undergo staff review. Reviews consider:
- Evidence quality
- Evidence recency (must be within 30 days)
- Category severity
- Prior history of accused party
Grace Period
Global bans have a 7-day grace period before enforcement. During this period:
- Accused party is notified
- Appeals can be submitted
- Evidence can be challenged
Enforcement
After grace period expires (if no successful appeal):
- User is banned from all participating guilds
- Trust score is reduced
- Ban is logged permanently
- User may appeal ban later
Appeal Rights
Banned users may appeal by:
- Submitting
/globalban appealcommand - Providing counter-evidence or explanation
- Demonstrating rehabilitation or changed behavior
Appeals are reviewed by staff. No appeal timeline is guaranteed.
False Reports
Users who submit false global ban reports may be:
- Blacklisted from bot
- Banned from support server
- Flagged in internal systems
Modifications to Terms
Update Process
These Terms may be updated at any time. Updates will be reflected in:
- This document
- Effective date header
- Version number header
Continued Use
Continued use of Project Automod after Terms changes constitutes acceptance of new Terms.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
